In the "Iglesia de San Martín de Bachicabo" (Church of San Martin de Bachicabo) you can enjoy the experience of seeing two altarpieces in the same temple. The discovery of a "pretended" altarpiece in the apse occurred by chance in 2006 when removing the canvas presiding main altarpiece for restoration.

The restorationof the altarpiece, now allows us toseethe two artworks without major alterations in comparisonto its initial position, which gives it a great singularity.

The traditional restorers did not imagine that when removing the work would find a scene painted by hand and with an air of remarkable antiquity on the wall of the apse. In itself, , they found a 35 m2 altarpiece marked in stone, hence why it is called a "pretended", as it ispainted on stone and not carved onwood, as it tends to be the norm.

In addition, the parish, of rectangular plant of a single nave of high walls, houses one of the finest ensembles of Baroque art in the area due to the novelty of its architectural design, linking its sculptures to the work of Gregorio Fernández and the presence of prominent Flemish paintings based on works by Rubens and Van Dyck.

To enjoy the Church of San Martin de Bachicabo there are guided tours, organized by the Tourist Office of Valdegovía.
